Google shows off data centres.
Google has traditionally been very protective of their data centres, claiming their hardware is what gives them the advantage in the market and even going so far as to take all of the light bulbs out of their server racks in shared facilities, so competitors can’t sneak a look in.
Now the company has released photos, videos and even a street view of some of their data centres, which Google calls “one of the most powerful server networks in the known Universe”. Google’s data centres are mostly made from customized parts produced in house, leading to the claim earlier this year that they are “One of the world’s largest hardware makers”.
